Year 1

Your first term in Lund will be spent studying four thematic courses in Gender Studies. You will gain a historic overview and knowledge of the Swedish welfare model, as well as knowledge of the field of feminist science studies.

The fall term starts August/September. Please note that you should be in Lund about two weeks prior to take part in introduction activities and Swedish language courses. The fall term ends the Second week of January. However, there will be a break over the holidays (approximately December 22- January 7th).

The teaching will be in the form of lectures, seminars and various written examinations, most often written home exams and essays. You will be taking Gender, Social Change and Modernity and Gender, Citizenship and Migration parallel during the first half of the term and Scandinavian Model of Equality during the second half. You will also be able to choose an elective course during the second half of the semester. 


During your second term you will be able to deepen your knowledge of some Social Science/Humanities area. Admissions will take place during fall term. The second half of the term you will spend writing an independent academic thesis. For this thesis you will receive tutoring from both Denver and Lund.

  • Electives (15 credits) within the Social Sciences and Humanities
  • Bachelor level thesis (15 credits), (equivalent of Denver capstone)

Your first year in Lund is a part of your Denver University Bachelor’s degree.
