Gender, social movements and political identities
The Department of Gender Studies has a dynamic research environment where the emphasis is on an understanding of how cultural conceptions and gender and sexuality create political solidarity, political parties, social movements and civil society organisations locally and globally.
The research environment is characterised by the department’s view of the importance of active interplay between research and wider society. It is an environment that has established important collaborations and initiated transnational collaborations between different types of movements and their (feminist) utopias, and has also identified the central role that gender and sexuality have in the construction of anti-democratic world views.
