Welcome to the Department of Gender Studies

This information is for those who have been admitted to a course or a program here at the Department of Gender Studies.

Corona/Covid-19 and the autumn semester 2021

In the begining of this semester, teaching and examination will take place both digitally and on campus. To see your course schedule please see the Schedules and course documents page linked above. Here you will also find the course syllabus and literature lists. 

Note: Due to the corona pandemic, schedule changes may occur at short notice.

The Faculty of Social Sciences' website contains more detailed information about the decision for the autumn term's teaching. Information on the university's guidelines is continuously updated on Lund University's Coronavirus / covid-19 - information for students.

It is important that we all respect the Swedish Public Health Agency's guidelines. This means that everyone must keep a distance of 1.5 meters, that you stay at home if you feel any symptoms and avoid unnecessary crowding.

Welcome letters

We send out welcome letters to admitted students two weeks before the start of the semester. The letter will be sent to the email address you provided in connection with your registration for the course. The letter contains more detailed information about the introduction day, registration and the course. If you are accepted but have not received an introductory letter, please check your spam inbox. If the introductory letter is not in your spam, write to the study advisors.

New students - What you need to do:

•    Register to the course on the Student Portal 
•    Go to the introductory meeting 


1. Activate your student account
Once you are accepted at Lund University, an account and a student identity will be created for you. You will receive information on how to activate your account at the e-mail address you have registered at

If you have been a student at Lund university before then you already have an account. 


2. Register
At the start of the course, it is important that you register online for the course you are admitted to and you want to attend. You register yourself in the Student Portal.

  • The registration will be open August 23rd - 30th. 

If you have problems registering, please contact the study administrator, otherwise you risk losing your spot on the course. Their contact information can be found on in the box to the right.

If you have registered but choose to skip the course, this must be notified within three weeks from the start of the semester in order to register "early interruption", otherwise you cannot apply for the course again. Report this yourself in the Student Portal. If the interruption occurs after 3 weeks from the start of the semester, the course will not be searchable again. Re-registration of another semester is then allowed only to the extent of location and upon notification to the institution.


3. Introductory meetings

The introductory meetings are mandatory to keep your spot on the course. If you are unable to attend, please contact your course co-ordinator. 

You will receive information on your introduction meeting in the welcoming letter and in your schedule

Note: Due to the corona pandemic, schedule changes may occur at short notice. Also note that the exact time is stated in the schedule. This semester, lectures and seminars will begin at the exact time specified in the schedule (ie the so-called academic quarter will not be applied).
