Background

In September 2022 I defended my PhD in gender studies with the thesis Anti-Jewish Racism: Exploring the Swedish Racial Regime. The thesis, which is placed in a tradition of critical race studies, examines contemporary structural anti-Jewish racism (antisemitism) by placing Sweden and ideas about "Swedishness" at the center of the analysis. The thesis was written within the framework of the project Beyond Racism: Ethnographies of Anti-racism and Conviviality, funded by the Swedish Research Council. I previously had my undergraduate and master's education in sociology from Lund University.

Ongoing research and education

Within the framework of my dissertation, I have attempted to contribute to an ongoing dialogue between anti-Semitism research and racism research in Sweden, based on a feminist and anti-racist theoretical perspective that views anti-Jewish racism/anti-Semitism as a structural phenomenon in Sweden, which cannot be reduced to the "margins" of society. Thus, anti-Jewish racism can be understood as a dynamic and relational social phenomenon, which in turn enables a critical analysis of the Swedish racial regime.

Since april 2023 i am the coordinator for the network of "A new generation of antisemitism researchers: New perspectives on gender, sexuality and Jewish identity in a post-secular era", funded by the Swedish Research Council. Within the framework of the network, we are planning a conference in Lund on 7-8 April 2025, entitled “Beyond Polarization and Instrumentalization: Antisemitism and Other Racisms”.
